Samurai Karate Studio to Participate in Shoeless Walk-a-Thon on Sunday, June 7th at 10:00am

Samurai Karate Studio is going to participate in a nationwide shoeless walk-a-thon on Sunday, June 7th at 10:00am. The one mile walk will start and end at Samurai Karate Studio located in the Magnolia Point Shopping Center in Northeast Columbia. The walk-a-thon will benefit an organization called Think Kindness, which has collected over 7,000 pairs of shoes and will be delivering them to poor children in Africa.

Columbia, SC, May 31, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Join members of Samurai Karate Studio as they participate in a nationwide shoeless walk-a-thon on Sunday, June 7th, 2009 in an effort to raise awareness about the effect that a simple pair of shoes can have on a child in need. A team of martial artists in Reno, Nevada have already collected over 7,000 shoes to send to orphans in Nyeri, Kenya. They will be delivering these shoes in August, but now they need the funds to ship the shoes overseas. This is where you can help.

Take the walk. Empathize with the needs of those without shoes by participating in a one mile shoeless walk beginning at Samurai Karate Studio.[*] The studio is located in the Magnolia Pointe Shopping Center, where the Piggly Wiggly and Little Cesar’s are located. The walk will start at 10:00am and finish when everyone completes the mile. Refreshments will be served at the studio after the walk.

An optional donation (suggested $5 per person, or $10 per family) will be accepted on site to help with shipping costs for the shoes. All proceeds from the walk-a-thon will go to offset shipping costs so that the shoes can get to children in Kenya. Both walkers and watchers are welcome to drop by.

Sensei Chris Feldt, owner of Samurai Karate Studio, will be participating in this event. “I am a member of the Ultimate Black Belt Test,” commented Feldt, a year-long test for master instructors and martial art’s school owners, and Brian Williams and Rori Goetz are two of my teammates from the UBBT, and they are heading up this project. The philosophy behind the UBBT is to take what we do out of the dojo and into the world. As members of the UBBT, we are committed to making a difference in ourselves, our family, our community and our world and these two young people are amazing in the work they do!”
