Intertek Granted Accreditation from the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) to Certify Manufactured/Modular Housing and RVs in Canada

Manufacturers now have a choice in certification and testing partner for faster market access

Chicago, IL, June 05, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, announces that it has been accredited and approved as a Testing and Certification Body by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) for the certification of manufactured/modular housing and RV’s. As an accredited certification body, Intertek may certify facilities and structures for product safety and issue the Warnock Hersey (WHI) Listed Mark to products found compliant with standards such as CAN/CSA Z240 (MH & RV Series), CAN/CSA Z241 (Park Model Trailers) and CAN/CSA-A277 (Procedure for Factory Certification of Buildings).

“This accreditation as an approved Certification Body for these products allows Intertek to improve overall service for manufacturers, while ensuring product safety for consumers across Canada,” said Peter Gildenstern, Manager of Manufactured Housing at Intertek. “We’re excited to provide the industry an alternative for these types of certifications. Our clients can now enjoy a much faster, more efficient certification process.”

Intertek can now provide manufacturers that produce or import into Canada, a program that certifies factories and structures such as RVs, Mobile Homes/Modular Homes, Park Models and Relocatable Structures to applicable CSA standard requirements. Highlights of this new certification program include:

Faster evaluation processes for manufacturers.
Acceptance of all products appropriately certified by SCC accredited agencies.
Ability to qualify any alternate components such as structural, electrical, gas or plumbing
Approvals for additional products outside the scope of requirements.

Intertek offers the WHI Listed Mark as proof of compliance to the requirements of applicable CSA standards, The Alberta Building Code Part 10, The National Building Code of Canada (NBCC) and other provincial codes as required. Intertek’s WHI Mark is already one of the most recognized marks for building materials and systems in Canada and reflects commitment to product safety to inspectors, builders and end users.

A dedicated team of experts in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal, as well as a vast network of inspectors and engineers across the North America, will help manufacturers determine which standards are most applicable for their products and how to most efficiently complete their testing and certification project.
