eBid.net Retains Personal Touch as Site Enjoys Explosive Growth


Auction site remains in tune with buyers and sellers and doubles business in only seven months.

New York, NY, June 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Auction site eBid.net has doubled its business in only seven months to 2.4 million listings across 9,500 categories in 18 countries. A key element of the growth strategy for the site is to listen to, and collaborate with, its international user community and ensure that, as the site continues to enjoy explosive growth, it remains grounded and in tune with the needs of sellers to make a profit and buyers to find the best bargains on the net.

Site co-founder, Mark Wilkinson, chats daily to members that use eBid to make an extra buck by selling second hand and new items. His finger on the pulse approach has led to many innovations including unlimited free listings, five free photos, seller plus lifetime status which remove sales fees and Buddy Points, a Loyalty scheme rewarding users for their commitment to eBid.

Veteran online seller, Crazymama, has been auctioning off collectables including coins, currency, records and postcards for over a decade and joined eBid a year ago looking for sense of community and a personal touch which had disappeared from other sites. Selling over a thousand items since his migration, Crazymama says: “I chose ebid due its rapid growth and its continuing commitment to cultivating its forums and community. eBid seller HannaHolly, has five stores on the site selling pre owned books; small collectables, militaria; charms and ice skating goods to supplement her income. She says the excellent value of the lifetime membership, the Buddy Loyalty Rewards earned for buying and selling, the ability to influence the direction of the site via forums, the ongoing site developments and Happy Hour Daily Auctions for new and used items such as iPods are some of the key reasons why eBid works for her.

eBid newcomer, Mickysmum, sells underwear, cosmetics and health and beauty products. She joined eBid less than a year ago after becoming concerned with the high prices and what she saw as regular and unfair rules on other auction sites. “eBid members are treated with respect and their views are listened to,” she says. “If a problem does occur it is dealt with by a real person not an automated message like eBay’s system.”
