Long Beach, CA, June 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- After School Fashion & Music Benefit.

A Blend of High Fashion & Local Culture to benefit local after school programs.

As California cuts funding for education, after school programs are some of the first on the chopping block. These programs keep at-risk children off the = streets by providing a safe environment to improve after school learning. On Friday, June 12th The Long Beach Party Project in conjunction with local charity BLAST (Better Learning After School Today) and Music Saves Lives.org will hold the “After School Fashion & Music Benefit” located at The Shore Ultra Lounge (6200 e. 2nd Street, Long Beach, Ca 90803). Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Long Beach BLAST program and Music Saves Lives. The event will be a blend of high fashion meets local culture with a small twist… live bands provide the music, silhouetted in the background, while the models walk the runway. Typically a DJ would spin in this case, but they wanted to incorporate the live band feel and connection they make with the audience which should result in something cool and something new. The show will consist of three runs and each run will be 10-15 minutes, while the band lays an ambient track in the background. As the last model is leaving the runway the shear curtain dividing the band and crowd will be lifted and they will crescendo straight into the rest of their set. In addition to the three supporting bands, DJ Omar (KROQ) will be providing music before, after, and in between for everyone to dance the night away. As of now they have several boutiques and labels like Buffalo Exchange, Crooks & Castles, Creative Recreation, No Regrets, and other local designers that have expressed interest in helping them create their “After School Fashion Show”.

Long Beach Party Project, www.LBPP.net, was established in June of 2003 to promote local music, art, fashion, & culture through a mix of traditional and grassroots methods. Launched in September 2000, Long Beach BLAST - Better Learning After School Today's mission is to improve after school learning for at-risk children and youth through collaboration. Since beginning in 2005, the Music Saves Lives has focused its main efforts on blood donation and the marrow registry, reaching out by sharing facts, educating and creating life saving events.
