Alabama’s Beaches to Host First of Two Prominent USSSA Events

More than 600 youth will compete in the USSSA South State Baseball Tournament, which is set for June 12th through 14th.

Gulf Shores, AL, June 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Kicking of a full summer schedule of Pleasure Island athletic events, the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission is proud to welcome the area’s first USSSA event in June. More than 600 youth will compete in the USSSA South State Baseball Tournament, which is set for June 12th through 14th.

Held at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex, competition kicks off each of the three days at 9:00 a.m. and spans the day until the final game starts at 6:00 p.m. Winners in each age bracket will have the opportunity to compete in the USSSA World Series.

Adult admission (over 12 years old) is $8.00 per day or $15.00 for a tournament pass. Children’s admission (ages 6-12) is $3.00 per day or $5.00 for a tournament pass. All children under 6 years old and under will be admitted free of charge.

Established in 1968, the USSSA program is dedicated to its mission of sanctioning, creating and promoting a variety of youth and adult sports, including baseball, softball and basketball.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission will welcome these upcoming events: USSSA South State Tournament (June 26-28), GSHS Volleyball Competition Camp (July 8-9), USSSA Global Baseball World Series (July 8-12) and the Gulf Coast Region Beach Series Grand Championships (July 11-12).
