GSM Operator KaR-Tel Deploys RADWIN’s Wireless Broadband Solutions

Kar-Tel Uses RADWIN’s Systems for Cellular Backhaul in Kazakhstan

Tel Aviv, Israel, June 11, 2009 --( RADWIN (, a leading provider of wireless broadband solutions, today announced that Kar-Tel - one of the largest mobile carriers in Kazakhstan - deployed its systems for cellular backhaul in the city of Almaty. KaR-Tel offers services in all Kazakhstan since 1999, and is a subsidiary of VimpelCom, Russia’s second largest mobile operator.

Oleg Snimchshikov, Deputy Technical Director, KaR-Tel, stated: “We tested other vendor equipment and ultimately chose RADWIN’s systems because they are robust and cost-effective. RADWIN’s systems operate in nLOS conditions in Almaty where there are many obstacles to visibility. The equipment also works in all weather conditions including rain, snow and fog where other systems we tested didn’t. Ease of installation and maintenance also make this product the right choice for us.”

RADWIN’s wireless broadband radios provide a flexible combination of Ethernet and TDM (up to 16 E1s/T1s) and up to 100 Mbps capacity at the most competitive price in the industry. Extremely simple to install and maintain, RADWIN radios operate in non line-of-sight conditions, extreme temperatures and high-interference environments.

Roni Weingberg, RADWIN’s COO, said: “We are excited to have been chosen by this leading mobile carrier Kar-Tel. RADWIN is committed to meeting the technological and business needs of carriers and service providers.
