Alberta-Based Company Becomes Canadian Distributor for Environmentally-Friendly Automatic "Smart" Cat-Door

Sherwood Park AB, Canada, June 12, 2009 --(PR.com)-- EIDAP Inc., the country’s largest distributor of companion-animal microchips is branching out its product line to include a state-of-the-art automatic cat-door. After investigating several options, C.O.O. Peter DeNooy, D.V.M. approached the U.K company, Sureflap Ltd. to acquire Canadian distribution rights for its model. Over 14,000 units have sold in Europe over the 1-year period it has been available. This battery-operated cat-flap is sensor-activated when the animal’s head enters the tunnel and will only work for felines wearing a microchip programmed into the device’s memory.

Sureflap does not require an electrical power source, running entirely on four AA batteries activated by the motion sensor, making it an environmentally-friendly, economical choice for cat owners. DeNooy was particularly impressed with the “smart” technology. “The unit is remarkable easy to program: you simply push a single button to activate a device which reads and records the cat's existing microchip data." There are no complex codes to enter and the cat does not have to enter the tunnel within a limited time-period once the “learn mode” has been activated. Up to 32 cats can be programmed into a single unit which can be fitted into most doorways and even walls.

Says Ron from Worcester, England, “We have had no strays pestering our cats since we installed it, no strange cats sneaking in …yet our two have complete freedom.” A four-way manual lock allows for a multitude of in-and-out options, including a “vet” mode which lets a cat enter but not leave. The CSA-approved Canadian model will work with all North American RFID microchips. The North American unit will have multi-lingual packaging and manuals.

EIDAP Inc. plans to launch Sureflap in North America on August 20, 2009. The unit will retail for $250.00 CAD. The Canadian website, http://www.sureflap.ca will be active for online orders in time for the launch date. In the meantime, interested parties can visit the U.K. site http://www.sureflap.com for more details.
