Acquity Group to Host "Start-Up Showcase" for Mobile Monday Chicago

The monthly meeting will feature mobile app development presentations from six local business leaders.

Chicago, IL, June 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Acquity Group, a leading services firm that focuses on digital solutions, announced today that it will be hosting the monthly meeting for Mobile Monday (MoMo) Chicago on Thursday, June 29 from 6 to 8 p.m.

The theme of the meeting, “Start-up Showcase,” will feature six presenters giving demos of or talking about their recent mobile applications, followed by a light networking social.

MoMo Chicago Start-up Showcase presenters include: Jeff Judge, Co-founder of Interactive Mediums; Nicholas Peredes, Partner of Moduko; Marco Nielsen, Mobility Architect with Enterprise Mobile; Ed Zylka, CEO of tvCompass, Inc.; Lawrence Griffith, CEO of Samplesaint, Inc. and Conrad Sheerna, CEO of mPayy.

Participating companies will speak on a variety of mobile solutions, such as mPayy’s offering of a secure, efficient and flexible payment platform that is accessible via any web-enabled mobile device; tvCompass’s launch of tvMobile™, an iPhone application and managed service for iPod Touch devices, as well as its partnership with BBC to co-launch a new interactive mobile TV listing guide for the UK market; and Samplesaint’s development of a system that allows consumers to redeem digital coupons via a scan of their cell phone.

“This is an excellent forum for business leaders to hear about the latest developments in mobile technology,” says Kelly Stickel, MoMo Organizing Committee Member. “Mobile development is going to take off this year and the ground floor is the best place to be. Companies will invest their IT and marketing dollars into mobile marketing, mobile app development and mobile optimization.”

Mobile phone subscriptions worldwide are currently estimated at an astonishing four billion, or roughly half the world’s population, with more than 1,000 new mobile phone users added every minute.

Tom Nawara, Acquity Group’s Managing Director of Digital Strategy & Design, says the benefits of m-commerce are numerous, as it provides a direct connection to the consumer at their point-of-need; higher customer engagement; access to new audiences; brand building; and increased loyalty, to name a few.

A recent Acquity Group audit of the Top 500 companies listed by Internet Retailer revealed the extent of their mobile adaption, ranging from mobile site optimization, smartphone applications, to mobile landing pages. The mobile audit allowed Acquity Group to identify areas where companies have fallen behind in mobile adaption, so it could better form m-commerce offerings to correspond with industry needs. Acquity Group is currently developing more than a dozen mobile applications and optimized web sites for some of the country’s leading retailers.

“Beyond just using a phone to talk, text and occasionally browse the Internet and e-mail, consumers are now turning to their personal device to bank, shop and interact with a brand through social media,” says Nawara. “This is still in its infancy, but the mobile experience continues to provide a more preference- and location-aware experience.”

This month’s MoMo Chicago meeting will be held at the Acquity Group headquarters at 500 W. Madison St., Suite 2200 in Chicago. To attend, register for free at http://www.eventbrite.com/event/345245639.
