Nebraska Cookbook Wins Honorable Mention in San Francisco Book Festival

Grand Island, Neb., author and former restaurateur Fran Schaffer recently received an honorable mention in the San Francisco Book Festival for her cookbook, "Shortcuts to Gourmet Cooking and Family Favorites." This is an accomplishment, since less than 5 percent of entries were recognized with an award and her cookbook competed against many cookbooks from across the country.

Lincoln, NE, June 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Fran Schaffer, the former Grand Island, Neb., restaurateur, has had her cookbook awarded with an honorable mention in the San Francisco Book Festival. “Shortcuts to Gourmet Cooking and Family Favorites” competed against many other cookbooks from across the country, and less than 5 percent of entries to the festival were recognized with an award.

Fran followed in the footsteps of her Italian grandmother and mother when she opened her restaurant in 1983. For 22 years, Nonna’s Palazzo in Grand Island served homemade Italian cooking the way Fran learned it in the kitchens of her youth, with an emphasis on natural ingredients and fewer processed foods. Fran’s 400-page cookbook, published by Infusionmedia Publishing of Lincoln, Neb., is the culmination of her cooking experience and the shortcuts she has learned along the way.

Founded in 1994, Infusionmedia Publishing publishes and promotes the works of Great Plains writers through its imprints Asteria Press, Abbatia Press, Amanuent Press and Plains Chronicles Press, and through IPAC, the Independent Publishers & Authors Cooperative, and the Nebraska Book Source.
