Lunkerville Wins Coveted CINE Golden Eagle Award

“Curse of Lunkerville” Episode Honored for Excellence in Filmmaking.

New York, NY, June 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Rockville Creative Inc. is proud to announce that Lunkerville has just won its first CINE Golden Eagle Award for the “Curse of Lunkerville” episode.

CINE Golden Eagles are recognized internationally as prestigious symbols of the highest standards in film and television production. The organization takes pride in discovering and distinguishing great emerging talent as evidenced by past CINE Golden Eagle award recipients, including Steven Spielberg, Ron Howard, Robert Zemeckis, Mike Nichols, Martin Scorcese and Ken Burns.

“As a film student, I’d always aspired to winning a CINE award,” says Michael de Avila, Co-Producer and Host of Lunkerville. “It’s a huge deal and one of the highest honors for a filmmaker. What’s cool is I never expected my fishing show to win the prize! I truly appreciate the recognition.”

Rockville and de Avila are not the only ones celebrating -- the win is also a coup for WFN: World Fishing Network. “Lunkerville is the most original show in our lineup,” says Corey Russell, VP, Programming/Production at WFN. “Each episode is like a mini documentary film, following the adventures of Mike D. and his guest. We love the creativity and unique personality the entire series delivers and congratulate Mike and his company for this terrific honor.”

“The Curse of Lunkerville episode chronicles a very difficult day for Mike,” explains Shannon Goldman, Producer and Editor of Lunkerville. “He couldn’t catch a fish for his life and as the hours passed, he became uncharacteristically upset. So we used that conflict to tell the story and drew on filmmaking techniques to create a compelling dramatic account of the day.”

About CINE
Renowned for the Golden Eagles it awards for excellence in the production of film, television, video and new media, CINE celebrated its first half-century in 2007. Founded in 1957 by a consortium representing business, education, and government to depict American life and thought realistically for a global audience, CINE continues to recognize and foster the highest quality of non-theatrical film and video production through its semi-annual competitions. In the Spring 2009 Competition, over 300 judges viewed and evaluated nearly 1000 entries, judging them for story telling, production value, artistry, the extent to which the film meets its stated goals and communicates with its intended audience, and overall excellence. About Lunkerville
When Indie film director Michael de Avila hooked his passion for story telling onto his love of bass fishing, he spawned an award-winning reality television show, Lunkerville. While other fishing shows rely on fast-paced pro-tournament competition, host “Mike D” casts his line at everyday, recreational bass fishermen, traveling to their secret spots and sharing their special techniques. In his signature laid-back manner, he reels in the camaraderie, the banter and the bass. Now in its fifth season, there’s never a dull moment on Lunkerville, the show that catches real people with real fish stories -- maybe even you!
