Mednovus, Manufacturers of the SAFESCAN(R) Line of Products, Offers 'MRI Safety Week' Website and Resources

In honor of MRI Safety Week, the company has developed a free 'Jeopardy-styled' computer MRI safety quiz for MRI providers to help refresh, retrain, and re-inspire MRI staff who are charged with MRI safety.

Leucadia, CA, July 06, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Mednovus, a company dedicated exclusively to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) safety products and services, is offering a new entertaining and educational tool specifically for MRI Safety Week.

The company has developed a free 'Jeopardy-styled' computer MRI safety quiz which is intended to be used by providers of MRI services to help refresh, retrain, and re-inspire those staff that are charged with the vigilant duties of MRI safety.

"There's a generic 'patient safety week', heck, there's 'craft beer week' and even 'bikini week', so I was stunned to learn that there wasn't 'MRI Safety Week,'" offered Tobias Gilk, President and MRI Safety Director for Mednovus, "which was why I started it with MRI-Planning.com several years ago."

Occurring every year around the July 27th anniversary of the most infamous MRI fatality, MRI Safety Week is dedicated to the celebration and promotion of excellence in MRI safety. This year MRI Safety Week begins on the anniversary date, July 27th, and continues through August 2nd.

"Now I'm honored to continue this with Mednovus," said Gilk, "and pleased that we can add informative and entertaining tools for MRI providers."

The MRI Safety Week quiz is available for download from a dedicated page on Gilk's blog, "MRI Metal Detector":

Gilk hinted that other resources and tools may be added to the site in the weeks ahead, "I've got a couple other ideas brewing. Also, I've always felt that MRI Safety Week needed to be 'open source.' I'm excited to host the party, but I want to be a forum where others that want to can share their information and educational resources with the broader MRI community."

When asked about the relationship between his company and MRI Safety Week, Gilk said, "Mednovus' exclusive focus is on MRI safety and the reduction of accidents, risk, and cost for our clients. And while the mission of Mednovus and the goals of MRI Safety Week are very much in-line, MRI Safety Week is not about one company. Rather it's about the tools and strategies that help protect patients and caregivers, whether they coincide with our company's offerings or not."
