Facility Keeps Up with the Changes in Digital Production

As RED camera productions continue to rise, one Santa Monica facility upgrades to facilitate the popular system’s power demands.

Santa Monica, CA, November 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Upstart green screen stage ProHD Rentals in Santa Monica is aggressively pursuing the increased demand in RED camera shoots by upgrading their electrical system to handle the power load.

The Santa Monica stage has a new upgraded BATES system with 50,000 watts of power. Bob Bekian, owner of ProHD, said, "This upgraded system, gives our Santa Monica studio the kind of power needed to support the increased lighting requirements for the RED ONE projects we are frequently doing.” The upgrade has made Loyal Studios a niche facility of choice for more and more cost-conscience productions.

That’s where ProHD Rentals differs. We recognize the needs of filmmaking 2.0.”

Director of Photography Steven Harnell agrees with Bekian, “I am doing more and more projects made specifically for the internet. Every advantage is being sought to cut expenses. The RED does not require film or tape stock, but rather it digitizes the information to create a tapeless work flow. By skipping a step in the transfer process production companies believe they can maintain savings. Harnell adds, “Cost is a big priority for producers now more than ever. So if I can steer them towards an affordable stage that can still handle my lighting needs I’m gonna do that.”

More and more these days industry insiders are having to learn new ways to stay ahead of the changing technology and yet remain competitive in a saturated market. Specialized facilities such as Loyal Studios are succeeding by catering to niche markets and fulfilling the rapidly cha
