North Carolina Junior Golf Tour Announces November Event at Duke University Golf Club

Raleigh, NC, July 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The Tarheel Golf Foundation has announced that its leading North Carolina Junior Golf Program, the Tarheel Junior Golf Tour will play at Duke University's Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club in Durham, NC on November 21-22, 2009. The event is open to junior golfers from North Carolina, players from other states and tour members from other countries. The Duke University Golf Course, a Reece Jones design, is one of the nation's best university courses. It is home to the NCAA Division I Duke University Blue Devils golf teams.

The November 21-22 event is the third event on the North Carolina based junior tour's 2009-2010 schedule. The tour, which exists to provide playing opportunities for junior golfers in the southeastern United States is based in Central North Carolina, a region that includes the Sandhills and Pinehurst, The Research Triangle and the Piedmont Triad areas. Tournaments are played within one hour's drive to Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Within this region are some of the country's finest golf courses. These include five of the nations top university-owned golf courses as well as world renowned resort courses.

The Tarheel Golf Foundation's junior golf programs has over 500 members. Membership includes some of the nation's top junior golfers and provides exceptional competitive junior golf playing opportunities for boys and girls, ages 18 and under. The Tarheel Junior Tour holds nationally-ranked 36-hole events from September-May, on weekends, to provide affordable, high quality and professionally run golf tournaments. Tarheel Golf Foundation junior tour events are recognized by many national junior golf clubs and organizations. Several 2009-2010 events will provide AJGA exemptions to winners, serve as qualifying events for international and regional invitational tournaments and will be ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard, the Tarheel Youth Golf Association and/or Golfweek. The boy's and girl's high school division yer long champions will also receive exemption into an American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) event.
