Series of USSSA Events Hits Another One Out of the Park on AL Gulf Coast

Gulf Shores, AL, July 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The summertime fun continues in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach as the area welcomes the fourth of five USSSA events. The USSSA Global Baseball World Series is set for July 16th through 19th.

“We have seen a large impact from our entire summer lineup, especially the USSSA events,” said Beth Gendler, director of sales at the Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission. “Thanks to a very productive spring and first half of summer, we have already surpassed the total number of room nights in 2008.”

Following the same tournament format as the other USSSA World Series tournament that was held last weekend, this event features competition in the 9U, 11U and 13U age divisions. Nearly 1,000 young athletes will compete in 250 games during four days of competition.

Opening ceremonies will be held Wednesday, July 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex, and admission is free.

Both the Gulf Shores Sportsplex and the Orange Beach Sportsplex will host tournament play. Games will be held Thursday through Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day. Adult admission (age 15 and over) is $10.00 per day or $25.00 for a tournament pass. Daily admission for children ages 6 through 14 is $6.00 while a tournament pass is $20.00 for these age groups. Children age 5 and under will be admitted free of charge.

The Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission will welcome these upcoming events: USSSA End of Summer Beach Trip (baseball) (July 24-26), the 2009 Summer’s End Softball Tournament (July 31-August 2) and the Gulf Coast Region Beach Series Grand Championship (August 1-2).
