Infinity Martial Arts of Middleton, WI Raises Over $5,000 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County recently announced a financial contribution of over $5,000 from the Infinity Martial Arts Dojo located in Middleton, WI thanks to a very successful Kick-A-Thon which recently took place on June 6th, 2009 at the Middleton High School.

Madison, WI, July 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Students of Infinity Martial Arts collected pledges from family and friends in the weeks leading up to as well as several weeks following the Kick-A-Thon for the number of Front Leg Front Kicks each student thought that he or she would be able to throw within a 15 second time period. They had 2 attempts at this challenge which allowed them the opportunity to outperform their first effort. The students’ hard work resulted in raising over $5,000 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County. This contribution will allow the organization to make several hundred matches between caring adult volunteers and children who are ready and waiting for a “Big Brother” or “Big Sister”.

The event was open to the public so that children and adults alike involved in the program (as well as the general public) would be able to see the exciting display of Karate athleticism as well as participate in a variety of other fun-filled activities that took place that day. These activities included Hip-Hop dance lessons by Siren Fitness, a Bounce House provided by Fun Play Inflatables; individual karate lessons and an entertaining game of Karate Dodge Ball. Quaker Steak and Lube provided food for the occasion.

According to Mike Welch, owner of Infinity Martial Arts, “As a karate school, we were excited to be able to give back to the community. I’m very proud of the students at my school and the effort they put forth in not only collecting pledges for this worthy organization; but also the enthusiasm and energy they exuded the day of the big event.”

Deanna Kane, mother of 3 children that are students at Infinity Martial Arts, added, “The opportunity to relay to a child what raising money can do for an organization such as Big Brothers Big Sisters is such an important character-building lesson in compassion and love. Our children were given the ability to learn how to freely give with an open heart to others by actively participating in this exciting fundraising event.”

In addition to the $5,000 raised by the Infinity karate students, Big Brothers Big Sisters has a private donor who is very familiar with the program and has pledged to match all funds raised this year up to $40,000. Therefore, every dollar raised at the Kick-A-Thon will be matched by this generous donor totaling the dollars raised to $10,000.

As stated by Dora Zuniga, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Dane County, “The Kick-A-Thon was a wonderful event that gave the students of Infinity Martial Arts a healthy and rewarding way to support their community. I was so pleased to see the commitment from these kids. From the bottom of my heart I thank Infinity Martial Arts, all the family and friends of the students, and Mike Welch for their support and for putting on a fun time for all. I look forward to a great partnership between Infinity Martial Arts and Big Brothers Big Sisters.”
