Stonhard Joins in the Effort to Green a Storm-Ravaged Town

Stonhard is the latest company to become a part of the “greening” of a Midwest town destroyed by a tornado.

Maple Shade, NJ, July 11, 2009 --(PR.com)-- In 2007, after a devastating EF 5 tornado hit the small town of Greensburg, KS, killed eleven residents and flattened 95% of its structures, its residents decided to rebuild – bigger, stronger and greener.

Recently, Stonhard, the world leader in seamless resinous floor, wall and lining systems, proudly joined in the effort to rebuild Greensburg.

Stonhard will install sustainable flooring solutions in the trauma area, emergency room, corridors and kitchen at Kiowa County Memorial Hospital, a critical access hospital that will serve as the area’s largest medical center. Working side-by-side with hospital planners as well as with Health Facilities Group and Murray Company Contracting, the architecture and engineering firm and general contractor, respectfully, Stonhard will meet the needs of the state-of-the-art facility while bringing it closer to its goal of achieving LEED Platinum Certification.

“We are honored to be a part of this process,” said Dan Kiernan, Stonhard’s Director of Commercial Business. “It really is history in the making, and hopefully, Greensburg can serve as a model for other towns striving for sustainability.”

Also joining Stonhard in greening Greensburg are other RPM companies, including DAP, Tremco and Carboline.

In addition, Stonhard is offering Greensburg a monetary donation to put toward its eco-conscious endeavors.
