Michigan Based 10 West Studios Gets the Ball Rolling with "What If..." State Offers 42% Cash Back Incentive for Film Projects Produced in the State

Manistee, MI, July 14, 2009 --(PR.com)-- 10 West Studios, in association with Pure Flix Entertainment and Jenkins-Entertainment are proud to announce the start of production on the feature film “What if…” 10 West Studios is based in Manistee, Michigan, which offers a 42% cash back incentive for film projects produced in the state.

A cross between “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “The Family Man”, “What if…” is a modern telling of these classic ‘second chance’ tales. Through a heavenly turn of events, a career-centered Ben Walker (Kevin Sorbo, TV’s “Hercules” and “Gene Roddenberry’s, Andromeda”) sees where life would have taken him had he chosen love over money. Along with Sorbo, the all-star cast includes Kristy Swanson (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”), John Ratzenberger (“Cheers”, and every Pixar movie), Debby Ryan (Disney’s “Suite Life on Deck”), and Manistee native, Toni Trucks.

Matthew Tailford and Harold Cronk of 10 West Studios, will co-produce and are excited about the first film to shoot on their expansive studio lot consisting of seven sound stages totaling over 150,00 square feet. 10 West has several in house projects in development, including “1812: The Twilight’s Last Gleaming”, and “Lucky and The Codex Imperium”. “We are so pleased with our experience with Matt and Harold of 10 West that we’re already planning on bringing a second film to Michigan,” says Russell Wolfe, managing partner with Pure Flix Entertainment. Based in LA, Pure Flix is a studio that produces, acquires, and distributes faith-based and family-friendly films, documentaries, and TV programming.

“10 West has been a great asset, creating access to the community of Manistee, Michigan, which offers unprecedented incentives to production companies,” says Michael Scott of Pure Flix. “They have met all of our needs from a studio and facility standpoint. Very friendly and easy to get along with, 10 West is one of the best companies I’ve worked with as a producer.”

Jenkins Entertainment was formed by Jerry B. Jenkins (author of the 70 million sold Left Behind series) and Dallas in 2000. Since that time, they have produced or co-produced three features and two short films, and their movies have been distributed by studios such as Warner Brothers and Lionsgate and aired on stations such as ABC Family and The Hallmark Channel.

"I've known the guys at 10 West for several years and am not surprised one bit by what they're putting together,” says Dallas Jenkins. “We are proud to be the first feature film to be shot utilizing their resources, but I have no doubt we will not be the last."

Directed by Dallas Jenkins, “What if…” began principle photography on June 28th and the shoot will last for 15 days at 10 West Studios.
