Drum, Dance, and Didge in the Meadow

Idyllwild, CA, July 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Experience the Joy of the drumbeat is the theme for this month's drum circle, sponsored by The Chakra Shack, to be held Saturday, July 18th, from 1-4 p.m., at the Mount San Jacinto State Park meadow in Idyllwild, CA. The event is free with suggested donations of $10-15 to cover the costs of the event. No one will be turned away for lack of funds, however.

Noted drum facilitator Chrystine of Chrystinedrums.com will guide attendees through the event which is designed to encourage dancing and drumming from the heart to help bring peace, love, and healing to our troubled world.

Organizer Julia Countryman, owner of The Chakra Chack says, "Everyone is welcome, including children and beginners. You don't need to have any experience drumming and you don't even need to own a drum. Other percussionists, didgeridoo players and belly dancers are encouraged to attend."

The June drum circle was a phenomenal success. Their goal was to have 10 folks attend, and they were thrilled to have nearly 20. The music of the afternoon was a mix of playing and education about drumming.

Attendees were able to experience the amazing sounds that many drums and percussion instruments provided by Chrystine Julian. Julian will once again be providing various instruments to try out. According to Julian, "If you can tap your foot, you can bang a drum!"

One of Countryman's goals with the drum circle is to create a bond between people that didn't currently exist before. "One of the amazing benefits of drumming is how it brings community together, people who never knew each other in our community have become friends. It really creates a unique bond between people when they have drummed together--a kind of spiritual synchronicity, if you will," she says. Additionally, drumming is a very healing, spiritual experience that creates feelings of joy within the self.

Continuing the tradition of Love, Serve, Remember, The Chakra Shack is donating 5% of all of Saturday's sales to the Love, Serve, Remember Foundation, a foundation that supports the teachings of Ram Dass (www.ramdass.org).

Spiritual art by world-recognized artists Paul Heussenstamm, and local Idyllwild artists is also offered. On hand for Saturday's drum circle will be a sampling of items from The Chakra Shack's inventory.
