California May Rival Western Europe in Development and Deployment of Renewable Energy in Next Decade, Says AltaTerra Research

California leads the U.S. in renewable energy. Learn more about the technologies, companies, markets, and policies that are driving growth during AltaTerra’s July 30th web conference: “Keys to California.”

Palo Alto, CA, July 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- California leads the United States in renewable energy production, sales and market growth, energy policy, and business innovation. Over the next few years, AltaTerra Research—a leader in renewable energy markets research—sees California continuing to lead the nation in both the total share of renewable energy and the diversity of technologies installed, planned, and under development. In fact, AltaTerra predicts that the buildup will be great enough that, within a decade or so, the state’s standing in relation to the current renewable energy leaders could rival Western Europe’s in deployment of renewable energy, particularly solar power.

On Thursday, July 30th, AltaTerra will present a national web conference on renewable energy markets in California, entitled: “Keys to California: Renewable Energy Markets Overview and Strategic Orientation.” AltaTerra’s Managing Director of Research, Dr. Jon Guice, will provide an overview of how renewable energy works in California—from innovation to major markets, a review of the current state of and outlook for several types of renewable energy technology, a framework for understanding and engaging with key organizations and market forces in the state, and a guide to public data and research resources—all based on original research and analysis. Dr. Guice will examine questions such as: Which technologies and companies are winning and losing? What are the near-term market opportunities and long-term prospects for key technologies? What are the main policy provisions and how are they changing? How is the business and research ecology evolving in renewable energy? Which geographical areas in the state are the most actively using solar power and other renewable energy sources?

The web conference will be one-and-a-half hours in length, starting at 10 am Pacific Time on Thursday, July 30th. Ample time for questions and discussion will be provided.

Economists, electric utility procurement, generation, and transmission personnel, energy sector executives, environmental managers and consultants, environmental organization executives, financial services professionals and investors, government personnel and policy-makers, large energy users, legal and financial advisors, regulatory and PR staffers, renewable energy professionals, researchers, and technical consultants are encouraged to attend.

Further details about the web conference and registration are available on the event webpage: www.altaterra.net/event/keys2ca.
