The Lake

By Randall Roberson
Prologue

No one knew what was happening in the small town of Mullins, North Dakota, everything was normal until pets and people started disappearing without a trace. The local investigators were bewildered; no evidence of foul play concerning the missing people, and no reasoning whatsoever concerning the pets. There was speculation that people were moving away, taking their pets with them; this was too ridicules to even be considered, especially from law enforcement officials.

All unexplained events seemed to have started occurring two months back, coincidental to Tommy Jacobs’ family moving there from Maine. Some local people thought this family may have been evil, using witchcraft or sorcery which had caused the disappearances. This was not the case, because within a week of their arrival, Tommy’s father was added to the missing persons list.

Tommy was a very intelligent young man being eighteen years old, as well as being a straight A student in his former school where he graduated. Beneath his dark brown hair, his hazel eyes searched everywhere for his father; remembering that his father was capable to handle himself, should the situation arise. There seemed no reasonable explanation, for an ex-Green Beret sergeant to vanish without a trace.

And since it had been there longer than the state of North Dakota, no one within the town of Mullins had even considered the lake.

Randall is very excited about this book, hoping to capture a large audience.
