Indiana Private Detective Suggests Methods for Loss Prevention

Indiana detective has seen it all and shares ideas to help businesses. Simple loss prevention measures need not wait until after a loss, according to Indiana private detective.

Indianapolis, IN, September 01, 2006 --(PR.com)-- With over 45 years in the security and investigations industry, Indiana private detective Tim Wilcox has encountered every type of corporate loss issue.  "Companies of all sizes in all industries have a degree of vulnerability to intellectual property or stock loss.  Other threats include fraud and embezzlement.  Unfortunately, as detectives hired to investigate theft, we have found that the majority of Indiana companies don't take measures to minimize their risk until after a loss has occurred," states Wilcox.

Larger companies, especially in the retail industry, often employ their own security and loss prevention staff.  This is because they are usually the businesses that suffer the most obvious losses.  Now that the US economy is sagging, more companies in other industries are finding themselves in the situation where they are experiencing more loss.  "During the past five to six years, we've been involved in more theft, fraud and embezzlement cases that during the preceding five years.  Lately, we're seeing an even greater spike in requests for such private investigative services," states the Indiana detective.

"It's a shame some of the companies being victimized waited until they experienced a significant loss before they took the appropriate steps.  In the end, we often perform security risk assessments for our clients during loss investigations, something which should have been done in the first place."

According to Private Detective Wilcox, "Sometimes a service provider merely needs to have employees and subcontractors sign updated Indiana non-compete/non-disclosure agreements.  Merchants and manufacturers often just need to install some basic video surveillance equipment."  These steps are certainly easier than having to conduct a lengthy undercover or embezzlement investigation to determine if a suspect can be prosecuted or sued.

Other recommendations from the Indiana private detective include running background checks on potential employees, and conducting periodic undercover investigations to identify and locate any security flaws or risks.  "It's amazing how much these simple measures can protect a company from a devastating loss," states Wilcox.  "While nothing is completely foolproof, a company is much better off if they are proactive about loss prevention issues."
