Chef Adrianne's Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar to Serve as Exclusive Host Location for South Florida Debut of "Dark Dining" Phenomenon

Miami, FL, August 13, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Chef Adrianne Calvo, a trailblazing Miami, Florida-based culinary artist whose considerably accomplished career has been marked by her constant willingness to innovate, will introduce the international phenomenon of “Dark Dining” to the South Florida restaurant scene during 3 exclusive dates in September 2009. Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar, Chef Adrianne’s highly regarded establishment in the West Kendall area of Miami , will host Dark Dining-themed evenings on three consecutive Thursdays, September 10th, 17th, and 24th.

The concept of “Dark Dining”, which has enjoyed significant popularity throughout Europe for several years, has been defined as "a sensory overload encounter that maximizes the art of flavor by suppressing vision, and therefore creates the ultimate in dining experience." The concept was introduced on a wide scale in the Zurich, Switzerland-based eatery Blindekuh in 1999, which was owned by blind clergyman Jorge Spielmann. European cities such as Paris, Cologne, Berlin, and Hamburg eventually followed suit and now boast numerous restaurants that feature this extraordinary dining alternative.

U.S. cities including New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas have successfully established Dark Dining nights in various locations throughout the past 12 months. Miami, Florida however, remains an untapped market for this rapidly growing social trend, and Chef Adrianne Calvo is enthusiastic about providing its eclectic population with a first-hand look at what is widely considered a unique experience.

“I believe that Miami, which is a city where edgy and trendy have always been welcome, will really embrace Dark Dining, “ remarked Chef Adrianne. “My staff and I are truly looking forward to the opportunity of being able to fulfill our daily mission of enchanting our customers’ palate in a whole new and very different way!”

The Dark Dining format, which entails participants being fully blindfolded in a particularly dimly lit setting throughout a multiple course meal, will serve as an ideal platform for the work of a chef that is renowned for her ability to create dishes that offer a succulent, and often unprecedented, combination of flavors. With their sight temporarily unavailable, Dark Dining guests at Chef Adrianne’s will be able to focus all other senses exclusively on their dishes, considerably enhancing their level of enjoyment during the meal.

All three Dark Dining dates at Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar will require advanced reservations via e-mail or telephone, and will feature a specialized menu customized to the unique conditions of the proceedings. It is expected that the combination of Chef Adrianne Calvo's flavor-rich brand of cooking and the extraordinary process that constitutes Dark Dining will result in a memorable and extremely savory experience.
