Mindgrub Founder Speaking at 2009 SALT Conference

Todd Marks will be presenting Mindgrub’s Location-Based Service (LBS) framework, viaPlace, to attendees interested in Mobile Computing at the SALT Interactive Technologies Conference.

Ellicott City, MD, August 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- This year, the Society for Applied Learning Technology (SALT) Conference is focusing on ways to decrease company downsizing and increase staff performance and efficiency through “the application of the latest technologies for education and training systems, job performance improvement systems, and knowledge management systems.” Held in Arlington, VA from August 19-21, Attendees will be introduced to and given an extensive overview of the latest technologies in various areas ranging from eLearning and knowledge management to mobile computing and web 2.0 technologies. Mindgrub founder, Todd Marks, will be discussing the company’s ventures in location-based services and experiences.

Many of the sessions held on Thursday, August 20th will be dedicated to Mobile Computing. The presenters will provide attendees with information regarding “what tools and technologies are available to create, distribute, and track mobile learning projects.” Speaking from 10:30am-11:10am, Todd Marks will be talking about Mindgrub’s LBS framework, viaPlace, and the avenues through which it has been implemented within mobile learning. Imagine walking up to a store and having the store’s hours, prices and specials delivered right to your mobile device. Sitting in front of a computer searching for information is old. The paradigm shift is, “Now that I’m here, what information is around me?” viaPlace is twofold: it is a registry system that mirrors a domain registrar which allows for the delivery of advertising, entertainment and education to an end-user based on their geographic location. The company used their framework to create an iPhone application for Baltimore-based 600block, and is currently using the framework to create other iPhone apps for various clients. With over 3 billion people using mobile devices worldwide, it is clear that LBS, marketing and advertising is the next hottest trend.

If you’re attending the conference, be sure to stop in and check out Todd Marks’ session. If you won’t be in attendance, make sure you’re following Mindgrub on Twitter for on-the-spot updates and information.
