Accounting and Finance Industry Gets a Leg Up at National CPE Expo

Recession-proof industry meets recession-proof city; More than 1000 accounting pros land in Texas at 2009 National Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Expo.

Nashville, TN, August 22, 2009 --(PR.com)-- As hope for a speedy recovery looms over the nation, the National Association for State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) is offering accounting and finance professionals an opportunity to tackle the new economy.

NASBA will host its’ 2009 National Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Expo, September 21-23 in San Antonio, Texas.

Identified as a recession-proof profession, the accounting industry has been less affected by the recent slump in unemployment. In an attempt to maintain that position for professionals, NASBA will provide CPE courses for accounting, finance, public and private industry, government and other professionals who need CPE to maintain their CPA licensure.

Providing 60 CPE sessions from the top-learning providers in the country, the expo will give professionals the opportunity to obtain up to 22 CPE credits and expand knowledge in areas such as accounting auditing, taxes, regulatory ethics, business management and organization, marketing along with other course offerings.

Named by Forbes Magazine as one of America’s recession-proof cities, San Antonio topped the list at number two with neighbors Austin, Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth following closely behind.

NASBA CEO David Costello believes the expo’s partnership with San Antonio is naturally a win-win. “NASBA knows the accounting community is well-poised to handle the economic slowdown. It would be only fitting that San Antonio with its growing industries, solid unemployment numbers and affordable living costs be the host city for our inaugural National CPE Expo welcoming for CPAs from across the country,” said Costello.

Noting a perfect match, Costello is excited about the expo’s first year and plans to bring NASBA back to San Antonio for its Annual Membership meeting in 2010. “The National CPE Expo will provide an unmatched learning experience for CPAs from across the country. We hope to create a NASBA tradition of offering high-value CPE courses and top-caliber speakers with this annual expo,” he added.

More than 1,000 finance professionals are expected to attend the National CPE Expo. For more information about the National CPE Expo, visit http://www.nationalcpeexpo.com
