Maori is an Inspiration to a New Sacrifice!

A new story teaches love, loss, and sacrifice all in the same breath. Author Andreà Millon tells an ancient story with new meaning in today’s society.

Los Angeles, CA, June 21, 2005 --(PR.com)-- The new book, “Maori’s Sacrifice” is a story told over and over through time, a young woman given a choice, sacrifice family or faith? Unlike her first book, Memoirs of a Chosen Time, Andreà decided to write a story that can reach young adults as well as the older crowd with a lesson to be learned, “so much is happening in our life time, and I think humanity often forgets the simple lessons of love, loss, and sacrifice.”

The inspiration for the character names in the new book was through the Polynesian culture, Mäori. At the time, Andreà wanted to tell an ancient story, but with unique names attached. She looked into an admired actor’s culture for names, thus her characters were born. Here is a sample from the newly anticipated book:

I hadn’t gotten out of bed in weeks, I missed days of school. I couldn’t think of anything but him, and what his fate could be without me. Then the dragon strolled in, mother, “don’t you think you’re carrying this too far?” she said putting her hands on her hips.
I said nothing, staring at the walls, my back towards her. My parents were making me very unhappy, I’d rather die without him, at least that’s what I felt.
“I know you don’t want to make any public appearances, but you are your father’s daughter, and we have to appear with him in Hori Region to announce the expansion.” She walks over to the terrace drawing the curtains back to let light in.
My eyes got big, and then I felt like someone just punched me in my stomach. I wanted to throw up. I sat up, putting my hand over mouth.
“What is it?” my mom asked, rushing to my side.
“I can’t go, you know I can’t go, don’t make me!” I protested.
“You have to go, if you like, we can accommodate Pai to travel as well.”
“Why would Pai want to see her relatives sentenced to slavery mother!”
“Her relatives were saved, in exchange for public traditional worship. They can no longer publicly denounce the entities.”
“What about Rangi!?”
“Who?”
“The boy I am in love with, his name is Rangi mom!”
“You think you’re in love with him, but you’re not. It’s the demons playing tricks on your emotions,” she said, pushing back the hair from my face as I waved my head around for her to stop.
“No it isn’t. I can’t watch you sentence him, and his family!”
I didn’t know, but my father came in. He had been listening for a while. I can tell by my mother’s facial expression that she was surprised from his presence. He walks over and sits on my bed and looks at my mother, “I want to speak to Young One alone.”
My mother nodded in agreement and left us. I put my hands around my tummy because the cramps were beginning to agitate, “Daddy, I….”
“Let me speak first,” he says putting his hand on my leg, “I know what you’re going through. I won’t pretend that I don’t. I need to explain to you, responsibility comes first, above all. I was chosen, by birth, to lead our people to prosperity. I don’t think you understand what that means. It means that above all, I am responsible for the benefit of our people. The entities put me in charge to lead our people, and sometimes this means the benefit of my family comes last. The wants and desires of my family comes last……your wants and desires comes last. Young One, if you were not my daughter, it would be easy for you to run off to the other side and marry whoever, but because you are my blood, it can’t happen.”
Tears rolled down my eyes, “but daddy it hurts. I mean how can you do this, how can you let this happen, children? They didn’t do anything.”
“You will get over it. Now because you are my daughter, you must accompany me to the Hori Region for the announcements. I will leave you to get dressed and packed. You will learn that sometimes love means ultimate sacrifices you don’t want to make, but you have to for the greater good” he says, standing up, kisses me on my forehead, and walks out.
As he exited, I ran to the toilet and threw up.

The young author also has a third book in the works, one that targets a generation of people 25-30 years of age. “There is so much I wish my mother had’a told me when I was younger” she sighs, “the only thing she ever told me was when you get older you’ll wish you were younger, what parent doesn’t say that. I think I would have listened a just a tad bit better if she’d explained to me what bills really mean as an adult, what a car note really means, car insurance, health insurance, and just growing up, it feels like she left me hang’n on the “growing up” details to life. So, I wanted to come out with a book that addresses everything 25-30 year olds go through, and not just relationships. I mean, understanding what it’s like to be that age, and not come from money, and try to make sense of what your suppose to do with the degrees from school, and not be embarrassed on certain situations-just be aware and try not to make the same mistakes, avoid them or fix them.”

In addition to being an Author, Andreà will be pursing a doctorate in eCommerce, fall 2006, “I am so in love with eCommerce. It’s the greatest invention humanity has ever created, besides the invention of God creating humanity. I think we need to look at the invention of eCommerce and the comparisons of creation to answer some of the most complex questions in existence…..that’s just what I think.”
