Forró For All Performs at Erie Art Museum

Erie, PA, September 09, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Rob Curto’s Forró For All will perform at the Erie Art Museum Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 8 p.m.  The performance, which takes place in the Erie Art Museum Annex at 20 E. 5th Street, is the culmination of a 3-day residency.

Forró is the social, party music of northeastern Brazil. The genre is a fusion of Afro-Brazilian percussion with 19th century accordion-based European dance music. Accordion, “zabumba” bass drum, triangle and vocals create a mixture of dance-inducing rhythms, lyrical melodies and sophisticated harmonies.

The band, Forró for All, fronted by accordionist Rob Curto, brings together some of New York’s best Brazilian music specialists, Pedro Ramos, Scott Kettner, Davi Vieira and Mike LaValle. Together they create a sound that deeply respects the traditions of forró’s greatest masters, yet also brings a fresh perspective with copious improvisation, original compositions and innovations both rhythmic and harmonic.

During their residency Forró For All will work with local students and musicians and will be featured at the Museum’s Teacher Open-House on September 12. Tickets for the public performance are $12, $10 for members and $6 for students and seniors. Contact the Museum for more information.
