Application Security, Inc. Announces Call for Entries for the 2nd Annual Database Security Video SMACKDOWN

New York, NY, August 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Application Security, Inc., the leading provider of database security, risk and compliance solutions for the enterprise, today announced that the second annual Database Security Video SMACKDOWN is open for entries. Building on last year’s success, the company’s short film contest will award a first place prize of up to $2,000, and the winner will be featured on the Application Security, Inc. Web site, Facebook page and YouTube Channel. The public will be able to view all entries on the YouTube Video SMACKDOWN Web site.

Teams or individuals are encouraged to create an original short video of no more than three minutes that mentions the importance of database security. While the film does not need to be specifically about database security, it must mention the importance of database security, risk, or compliance at some point in the film. The target audience for the videos is the general public and the primary goal is to entertain. Dozens of short films were submitted in the 2008 Video SMACKDOWN. The winning entry, “Database Security is Important,” and other finalists can be viewed on the Video SMACKDOWN Web site.

Entries must be posted and submitted through the Video SMACKDOWN contest Web site on YouTube. The deadline for submissions is 5:00 p.m. (EST) December 15, 2009. Contestants who submit their video prior to November 1, 2009 are eligible for an Early Bird Bonus. The entries will be judged by a team of security experts and Application Security, Inc. employees who love movies. Finalists will be selected based on overall creative vision and entertainment quality, and the champion will be announced on December 21, 2009 on www.appsecinc.com.

“We are excited to host the Video SMACKDOWN again this year and encourage both amateur and professional filmmakers to submit dynamic, compelling, and most importantly FUN videos that emphasize the importance of database security,” said Thom VanHorn, Vice President, Global Marketing at Application Security, Inc. “Last year’s submissions which ranged from stop action animation to film noir mysteries were creative and entertaining. We look forward to seeing how this year’s submissions convey the importance of database security, risk, and compliance.”
