The La'Roi Glover Foundation to Host 2nd Annual Back to School Shopping Spree for San Diego Youth

San Diego, CA, August 27, 2009 --(PR.com)-- The La’Roi Glover Foundation will host it’s 2nd Annual Back to School Shopping Spree for 50 deserving students on Thursday, August 27th from 11:30am to 3:00pm at the Target store located at 1288 Camino Del Rio N, San Diego, CA 92108.

This annual event gives LaRoi a chance to give back to the community that supported him through his childhood. “I remember growing up, we didn’t come from any money or anything like that,” Glover said. “Whatever my mother had, she was willing to share it with not only family members, but other folks who were less fortunate than we were. So I think that’s sort of what started it.”

The 50 lucky students from area Boys and Girls Club locations will be served lunch as they hear a few words from their hometown hero. As a father of three, LaRoi knows the importance of getting the school year off to a good start. He often stresses to youth groups that their key to success is staying focused in school and rejecting negative influences.

Immediately following lunch, each of the excited shoppers will be paired with a volunteer as they dash through the Target store shopping for the hottest looks for school. At the conclusion of the shopping spree each student will receive a backpack filled with school supplies to ensure they start the school year well prepared.

The La'Roi Glover Foundation Back to School Shopping Spree is sponsored in part by Target, Geico, JanSport, CelebriTees and the Jimmie Johnson Foundation.
