Inspired ideas for an Innovative World

The Learning Experience Child Development Centers take strides as a leader in early childhood education, from infant/toddler through Preschool age curriculums. Below are two additional educational modules being incorporated into their current programming…

Technology:
Parents are excited to learn that lessons on technology will be in their Preschool child’s curriculum beginning 2009.

The Director of Curriculum offered the following quote “ In our changing world, we know that those who are fluent with technology are a step ahead. That is why we provide technology literacy instruction at no additional cost.”

Children enrolled at The Learning Experience will learn about using computers, digital cameras, telephone technology, and how to safely use the TV and Radio. (This could mean good news to parents -no more paper clips in the DVD player.)

Sign Language:
Research has indicated that babies who learn to use sign language and gestures speak earlier than those who do not. Signing opens up a wealth of communication for babies even before they are capable of forming words.
For this reason, The Learning Experience is teaching sign language to all of their children, infants through preschool, at no extra cost to the parents.
Research shows that learning to sign has significant benefits, such as the following:

-Signing minimizes frustration and provides a non-verbal form of communication.

-Babies discover that signing empowers them and that it is more productive than crying or whining.

-Babies who sign can score as much as 12 points higher on IQ tests!

-Signing encourages the development of larger vocabularies

-By age 2 signers have, on average, 50 more spoken words than non-signers. At age 3. children may speak and understand verbal communication at a 4 year old level. (At The Learning Experience we use spoken word with our signing to promote verbal skills)

-Signing promotes an interest in books and literacy;Once reading becomes interactive, baby’s interest soars.

-Signing babies grow up with greater self-esteem

-Studies have shown that reaching out and being understood by a grown-up is important to a child.

-Signing babies develop a closer bond with their parents

-A baby who can communicate what he wants becomes an active family member. Signing babies can tell a parent what interests them as well as what they need.
