movemanSKG Supplies Platform Lifts to Top Bristol Restaurant

Leicester, United Kingdom, September 16, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Brasserie Blanc, the famous restaurant chain, is using two movemanSKG Prestige platform lifts at its branch in Cabot Circus, Bristol. Cabot Circus is a recently opened shopping development in Bristol city centre, which cost £500 million to develop. It incorporates shops, offices, restaurants, residential apartments and cinemas. As a public venue and service provider, Brasserie Blanc has responsibilities under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).

At Cabot Circus, Brasserie Blanc is located adjacent to the main complex in a quarter known as Quakers Friars. This area gets its name from a group of historic buildings at its centre, which includes parts of a restored Dominican Friary founded in 1228. Brasserie Blanc comprises a main restaurant in what used to be a Georgian Quakers Meeting House, and function rooms in two medieval halls. movemanSKG’s platform lifts allow less able guests to access the banqueting halls’ upper floors.

Bristol based Alec French Architects, which designs high-quality, sustainable buildings for a wide range of customers, specified movemanSKG’s Prestige platform lift. David Ricks, Senior Associate and Project Architect, explains; “Quakers Friars is a Scheduled Ancient Monument. We wanted the lifts to look modern so they didn’t compete with the buildings’ historic appearance. movemanSKG quickly came up with a truly unique design. Each Prestige features single sheet glazing in the door and all sides of the shaft, glazing in the roof with special lighting, and a polished stainless steel finish. They look outstanding and complement the buildings’ newly refurbished interiors.”

One Prestige at Brasserie Blanc travels three metres between two floors. The other travels the same distance but has a sub-level in addition to the two main floors, making it a three-stop unit. Both lifts carry loads of 400kg, have power-operated doors, and feature a spacious platform, which accommodates a wheelchair user plus one carer.

David continued; “Both lifts function reliably and are easy to maintain. movemanSKG carried out a swift, seamless installation and worked closely with us over the course of the project. I felt we received a first class service and would not hesitate to recommend movemanSKG to other potential lift buyers!”

Thanks to movemanSKG, Brasserie Blanc in Cabot Circus fully complies with the DDA and can accommodate less able customers. Prestige has a wide range of colours and finishes, making it suitable for any environment. Floor or pit mounted, it requires no wall or supporting structure and features user-friendly, ergonomic controls. Prestige comes with three inclusive service visits in the first year of ownership.
