FreemanWhite Completes $65 Million Construction on Southminster Retirement Community Project

Charlotte, NC, September 17, 2009 --(PR.com)-- David Segmiller, AIA, principal at FreemanWhite (www.freemanwhite.com), an architectural, engineering, interior design and consulting services firm for healthcare organizations worldwide, has announced the completion of a construction project for Southminster (www.southminster.org), a Charlotte continuing care retirement community (CCRC). FreemanWhite added 89 Independent Living units, a wellness center and renovated all the public common areas, the health center and all the existing corridors of the eight-story project. The construction creates 300,000 square feet of new space and renovates 100,000 square feet of existing space at a total cost of $65 million.

The construction revitalizes Southminster, which faced an outdated campus. The community now has the ability to attract younger residents with competitors entering the market. Southminster is a nonprofit, accredited continuing care retirement community founded by two local churches. The Southminster campus is located at 8919 Park Road in Charlotte.

Founded in 1892, FreemanWhite is the oldest architectural firm in North Carolina and focuses on providing quality architectural, engineering, interior design and consulting services for healthcare organizations worldwide. For more information, visit www.freemanwhite.com.
