Area Doctor Earns Certification in Spinal Decompression Therapy

Only local chiropractor certified in Kennedy Decompression Technique

Seven Fields, PA, September 24, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Dr. Shawn T. Finn recently received the Certified Practitioner title, following successful completion of a Spinal Decompression Therapy course. Clinic Director at Finn Chiropractic Group, Dr. Finn is now the only local chiropractor certified in the Kennedy Decompression Technique.

The certification course was taught by a leading expert in spinal decompression, Jay Kennedy, D.C., who has trained doctors worldwide and treated thousands of patients using a variety of decompression systems. The topics covered an array of subjects including proper patient selection, patient positioning, treatment time, amount of force, and degrees of angle. The course included a two-day, hands-on training session, followed by a certification examination.

“After completing this comprehensive course, I am pleased that we can now better service our patients and others in the community through spinal decompression therapy,” Dr. Finn said. “This advanced technique is a non-surgical option that can finally bring relief to many people who suffer from neck or back pain.”

Spinal Decompression Therapy is a non-surgical, traction-based treatment for conditions such as neck and low back pain, disc herniation, and sciatica. The procedure uses advanced medical technology to relieve pressure on the spine by stretching and decompressing the discs. Patients, fitted with pelvic and thoracic harnesses, lie on a computerized controlled table. Most patients find the sessions, which last about 30 minutes, to be comfortable. Treatment typically involves 8-12 sessions, with many patients reporting pain relief after the first few sessions.
