E-Mail Flood Incurs Billions of Dollars in Costs

220 billion e-mails circulate worldwide each day. Archived e-mails are difficult to find. Work more efficiently with Lookeen® 2.1.

Karlsruhe, Germany, September 25, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Professional communication has changed: people have to manage an ever increasing number of e-mails. International studies show that the flood of e-mails sent and received poses a growing problem for business. The German software vendor Axonic Informationssysteme GmbH offers a solution that helps people get a grip on the flood of e-mails pouring into their inboxes every day: The Outlook®- AddIn Lookeen Version 2.1, which is now available on www.lookeen.net.

A survey carried out earlier this year by the Radicati Group found that around 220 billion emails are sent and received each day worldwide. Other studies forecast an annual increase in e-mail volumes of about 40 per cent. It is safe to assume that many of these e-mails contain information worth archiving. In Germany alone it is estimated that 4,700 e-mails are stored on each and every workstation.

It’s not the filing of e-mails that takes time, it’s retrieving them. According to e-mail marketing specialist Absolit, each employee spends an average six to 12 minutes a day digging around in personal folders and server archives for buried messages.

Research carried out by the Basex Institute shows that these searched come at a high cost for business. Employees in companies in the United States spend approximately 28 billion man hours per year just searching for e-mails. This time is the equivalent to nearly US$ 588 billion.

The solution from Germany to significantly reduce searching time
Introducing Lookeen, a product by German start-up entrepreneurs Martin Welker and Peter Oehler, which significantly speeds up the search for data. The application provides comprehensive, neatly categorized and clearly presented results, searching through all e-mails, contacts, Outlook tasks, notes and attachments in a matter of seconds.

The secret to Lookeen lies in its indexed search methodology. Lookeen indexes personal mailboxes as well as external sources like Microsoft Exchange Server®.
