DANA Downtown Living Tour Returns for Sixth Year

The Downtown Austin Neighborhood Association (DANA) has unveiled details for its sixth annual Downtown Living Tour, showcasing the rapidly growing residential landscape in downtown Austin.

Austin, TX, September 30, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Hundreds of attendees are expected for the event, and proceeds benefit local charities and DANA events hosted for the neighborhood. The attendees get to sample residential, retail, and entertainment destinations across downtown through a guided walking tour.

This year’s tour takes place on Sunday, October 11, 2009, from noon until 5 PM. Registration opens at 11:30 AM at Gables Park Plaza (near the intersection of Cesar Chavez and Lamar Boulevard, across from the YMCA), one of Downtown’s newest residential properties. The tour includes a happy hour from 4-5:30 at the Ashton Sky Lounge at 2nd and Colorado, another new downtown residence, and an after party from 5-7 PM at Ligne Roset at 2nd and Colorado. Tickets are available for $15 (or $25 for VIP access to a party on October 10th) through the DANA website or at the registration table the day of the event.

“One of the best parts of this year’s tour is that it will include a lot of buildings the public has not gotten to experience before as true residences,” said Downtown Living Tour coordinator Lindsay Wiebrand. “We’re hoping that this behind-the-scenes look at real Downtown living will inspire more Austinites and visitors to consider making the switch to a Downtown lifestyle—where you can live, work, and play all within walking distance.”

“We are very excited to host this year’s tour,” said Jennifer Wiebrand of Gables Residential. “The tour is a great chance to showcase the incredible options people have for living downtown, along with the numerous amenities like Whole Foods, Lady Bird Lake, and the Warehouse District.”

Proceeds from the Downtown Living Tour will benefit Ballet Austin and Humanities Texas.

DANA's mission is to improve the quality of life for those who live, work and play downtown. DANA influences decisions that affect downtown, educates and listens to residents and stakeholders about downtown and issues that affect them, and fosters a downtown community through social events.
