City Life Cleveland and Metro Cleveland Television Annouce a Series of Initiatives to Benefit the 2006 John T. Carey Memorial AIDS Walk of Greater Cleveland

Metro Cleveland Television and City Life Cleveland announce series of initiatives aimed to create AIDS Awareness and WALKERS for the 16th Annual John T. Carey Memorial AIDS Walk of Greater Cleveland.

Cleveland, OH, September 21, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Metro Cleveland Television and City Life Cleveland, the lifestyle and entertainment guides of Cleveland, announce the launch of a series of community outreach initiatives to create AIDS Awareness and walkers for the 16th Annual John T. Carey Memorial AIDS Walk of Greater Cleveland scheduled for Saturday, October 7th, 2006.

Starting Wednesday, September 27th, 2006, Metro Cleveland will air a two part series on AIDS Awareness. Part 1: “AIDS Deconstructed” will feature a discussion about AIDS and its impact on northeast Ohio with Mr. Earl Pike, Executive Director of the AIDS Taskforce of Greater Cleveland. Part 2, AIDS: “Cleveland’s Role” in the fight against this deadly disease, will feature Dr. Michael Lederman, Executive Director of Case Western University, Center for AIDS Research (CAFR), one of nineteen such NIH-funded institutions and address the impact of Cleveland research in the fight against AIDS. Part 2 of the series airs on Wednesday, October 4th, 2006. Also, during the two episodes there will be spot commercials announcing the 2006 John T. Carey Memorial AIDS Walk of Greater Cleveland. Banners will also be placed on both citylifecleveland.com and the micro site citylifecleveland.com/metrocleveland Additional links will be placed to the fundraising micro site setup by the AIDS Taskforce.

Furthermore, for a period leading up to the walk, starting Wednesday, September 27th, City Life Cleveland and Metro Cleveland will donate 10% of the net proceeds from all sponsorships, advertisements and commercials, and merchandise sales (DVD's, T-shirts, caps) to the 2006 John T. Carey Memorial AIDS Walk of Greater Cleveland.

As a fundraising partner, City Life Cleveland and Metro Cleveland have sponsored a micro site http://www.firstgiving.com/metroclevelandtv to enable individuals and corporations to securely donate directly to the 2006 AIDS Walk. All the proceeds from this micro site go to the cause.
