"The Economic Report" to Feature Nexus Engineering

Oakbrook Terrace, IL, October 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Nexus Engineering is pleased to announce its involvement in an upcoming segment of “The Economic Report” focusing on topics, trends and issues related to “Leading Developments in Nuclear Power” as part of the show’s Energy Solutions for the 21st Century series.

Electricity shortages, fossil fuel price increases, the threat of global warming, and harmful emissions from fossil fuels are renewing worldwide interest in nuclear power. Today, there are more than 400 nuclear power plants around the world, with more than 100 in the United States.

As the largest sustainable energy source that reduces carbon emissions and increases energy security, nuclear energy represents the single best option for the U.S. and the world to meet future base load energy needs. To ensure viability, nuclear power plants use a defense approach that implements multiple layers of fire protection features to keep fires from damaging plant safety systems and to maintain a plant’s ability to safely shutdown.

"Our staff of highly-qualified engineers and nuclear industry professionals have experience in virtually all areas of nuclear plant design including fire protection, operations, and regulatory compliance," says Don Mershon, Director of Nexus Engineering. "We have performed thousands of successful projects for many of the industry's largest companies, and continually monitor industry trends and the ever-changing nuclear regulatory environment, to ensure our clients meet fire protection and nuclear safety requirements."

The five-minute segment will address nuclear power as an efficient source of energy and will feature the services and solutions provided by Nexus Engineering. Interviews will include Mr. Mershon, along with notable nuclear industry executive, Dr. William E. Burchill, the 2008/2009 President of the American Nuclear Society (ANS).

The segment will air on WAXN-TV Action News in the Charlotte, N.C. market on Oct. 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 6:00 a.m. and will air in 13 other major markets in the upcoming months. Check local listings for details.
