Portable Workstations from NextComputing Now Offer Comprehensive Digital Video Production Solution Utilizing NVIDIA Quadro Digital Video Pipeline

NextDimension Evo HD and Vigor Evo HD portable workstations (to be demonstrated at HD World 2009 in PNY® Technologies booth) now support the necessary components for the NVIDIA Quadro Digital Video Pipeline configuration.

Nashua, NH, October 15, 2009 --(PR.com)-- NextComputing, manufacturers of high-performance portable and dense rack-mount computers, announced today adoption of the NVIDIA® Quadro® Digital Video Pipeline in its NextDimension Evo HD portable workstation and Vigor Evo HD rugged portable workstation computers. NextComputing’s integration of this award-winning technology from NVIDIA marks the first-ever availability of a comprehensive graphics processing unit (GPU)-based acquisition-to-output digital video solution in a high-performance, portable workstation computer. NextComputing’s uniquely compact and powerful workstation computers take the capabilities of the Quadro Digital Video Pipeline out of the studio and into the field, allowing broadcast and digital film professionals to perform real-time video processing and compositing on-set or on-location.

This solution will be demonstrated in the NVIDIA/PNY Technologies booth at the HD World conference and exposition, being held October 14th and 15th at the Javits Convention Center in New York.

The NVIDIA Quadro Digital Video Pipeline is the industry’s first fully integrated, GPU-based solution for acquisition, processing and delivery of high resolution video, providing advanced capabilities for graphics rich production and delivery of video for broadcast, post production, film and new media. The Digital Video Pipeline integrates technologies including serial digital interface (SDI) capture with 4 HD-SDI inputs, Quadro FX professional graphics, and an HD-SDI output. This end-to-end production solution enables the real-time capture of SD-, HD-, 2K-, and 3G-SDI video footage directly to the GPU for compositing virtual effects or video processing using the CUDA® parallel computing architecture. HD-SDI output is streamed to live TV for broadcast or for frame-accurate preview on an SDI monitor or projector for digital film production.

NextComputing’s NextDimension Evo HD portable workstation and Vigor Evo HD rugged portable workstation computers make low-latency, real-time graphics, digital film color grading and compositing, and new media production a reality for content creators working from remote locations.

• Broadcasters who need to display live, real-time overlays of complex 3D graphics for sports or special events now have a portable graphics workstation solution that completely eliminates latency and bottlenecks associated with pushing video through system memory; instead relying on the fast direct interconnect between Input, GPU, and Output.

• Film productions shooting with the latest high-resolution HD and 2K digital film cameras now have a portable solution to take on-set for live capture, manipulation and preview of uncompressed digital video. Using on-set color grading software, cinematographers can perform one-light passes of footage prior to post-production, and instant digital dailies are possible.

• New media markets such as live webcasting can leverage the NVIDIA CUDA parallel computing architecture and amazing processing power of the GPU for live, multi-format, multi-bitrate video encoding for internet streaming, and bring it on-location to wherever their event is taking place.

“NextComputing’s integration of the Quadro Digital Video Pipeline into compact, portable workstation computers will enable broadcasters, filmmakers and content providers to take what historically could only be done with a combination of powerful fixed-location systems or rack-mount servers, and now bring it on-location,” said Jeff Brown, general manager, NVIDIA Professional Solutions Group. “This level of performance-on-the-go has the potential to radically enhance creativity and accelerate production timelines for film and video professionals. This provides huge benefits to anyone working with high-resolution digital video and graphics who needs the flexibility to utilize this type of production power in the field.”
