K2 Software to Support Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Other Upcoming Microsoft Releases

Las Vegas, NV, October 19, 2009 --(PR.com)-- K2, a Microsoft Gold Certified ISV partner, today announced planned support in its products for the upcoming releases of Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010.

K2 blackpearl and K2 blackpoint software have long had industry-best depth of integration with the Office and SharePoint Server platforms, a primary reason customers adopt K2 for their workflow needs.

“K2 has been working with the SharePoint 2010 team, since shortly after the Office 2007 release, to ensure compatible K2 releases will be ready as soon as possible after Microsoft goes to market with its next-generation software in 2010,” said Olaf Wagner, senior vice president for product management at K2. “When we deliver this new set of K2 capabilities that leverage Office 2010 and SharePoint 2010 features, K2 customers can upgrade and we’ll offer tools to make migration seamless.”

K2 will be showcasing some capabilities of its planned new releases this week at the Microsoft SharePoint Conference 2009 in Las Vegas.

“K2 sees significant value in the new capabilities of the SharePoint 2010 platform — value for us, K2 customers and Microsoft,” said K2’s Dave Marcus, vice president of Global Alliances. “For example, not only can we leverage Business Connectivity Services (BCS) to integrate business data — like K2 process data — into SharePoint 2010 and Office 2010, but because of the new, richer infrastructure, we can leverage BCS’s native support for claims-based authentication on the server and to the client. This is a key value proposition that allows us to take advantage of applications like Outlook and allows us to add new, valuable capabilities to K2 software very easily.”

K2 is also planning significant enhancements to its Office-client product integration. Microsoft’s richer, highly extensible ribbon infrastructure across the entire stack, as well as other capabilities, make these enhancements possible, intuitive and highly manageable for K2 users.

“K2 has always added great value for Microsoft customers deploying solutions across SharePoint Server technologies,” said Jeff Teper, corporate vice president, Office Business Platform, Microsoft Corp. “K2’s integration with SharePoint Server 2010 will empower a very broad user base to create rich workflows and process-driven applications in SharePoint 2010 — without writing code.”
