About the Book: In his first non-fiction release, Dr. McFadden brings to the light many of the issues surrounding our modern healthcare system. Life in The Deadly World of Medicine is a guide to the wealth of information available to all people in the 21st century. Armed with this knowledge patients and guardian become empowered to fight back. Blame placing will not change the fatal flaws of this gigantic system: the insurance industry, the hospital industry, and the drug companies riding on the shoulders of the medical profession.

The book also explains how the original HMO’s were born out of concern for the employees of companies or other groups of people and served patients well as nonprofit organizations until they were taken over by private ownership and the insurance industry.

About the Author: Joseph T. McFadden writes from his forty-three-year experience as a neurosurgeon, most of his time in a large municipal hospital of a melting pot American city. He is a native of Oxford, Mississippi, a graduate of Ole Miss and the University Of Virginia School Of Medicine. He was the founder and first chairman of the committee representing neurosurgery at the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) to write consensus standards for nervous system implants.
