New Orleans, LA, September 28, 2006 --(PR.com
)-- The New Orleans Saints returned to the Superdome with a vengeance as they toppled the Atlanta Falcons and Sportexe® was with them every step of the way. As renovations to the Superdome began to conclude, Sportexe® was there to install a 121,412 sq. ft., state-of-the-art synthetic turf system called Momentum®. Not only was it a triumphant return home for the Saints, the game had the largest audience for a broadcast in ESPN history.
Momentum® is made with Strenexe™ fiber. The advanced molecular structure makes it one of the softest, most durable fibers available. And talk about performance; John Carney nailed a 51 yard field goal. Here’s what he had to say. "The field was tremendous. It was consistent throughout and it is very similar to the other synthetic fields that we play on. There are differences, depending on the companies, but the field was in great shape.” Wide Receiver, Joe Horn said, "I thought the field was in tremendous condition. It played fast and true and footing was not a problem, at all." Safety, Steve Gleason echoed that sentiment when he mentioned that, "The Superdome playing surface was fantastic. It's in great shape and footing and consistency were never issues."
Joe Theismann, ESPN announcer high up in the broadcast booth, commented that the field looked slow and slippery, but Sean Payton, Head Coach for the New Orleans Saints said, "The field was fine, it was a non-issue."
Danny Vincens, Assistant General Manager of the Superdome, had this to say, “We tested the G-max rating before the players took to the field and the measurements hit the mark."
“We’re looking forward to a long relationship with the Saints”, said CEO of Sportexe, Mark Nicholls. “What a great way for the Saints to return home.”
