First Annual Rochester Security Summit

The Rochester Security Summit is the community focal point for information security education and awareness in collaboration with the Rochester area’s higher education institutions, large businesses and area organizations.

Rochester, NY, September 28, 2006 --(PR.com)-- From October 9-12, 2006, the Rochester Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association, University of Rochester, RIT and area organizations are holding the first Security Summit conference in conjunction with National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

Phishing attacks, identity theft, fraud, and spyware hinder Internet commerce.  With these threats come more questions on how to improve defenses. The Rochester Security Summit presents three educational tracks and high quality speakers to present best practices, business solutions, compliance strategies, technical solutions and the most efficient methodologies for today‘s security needs.

The Rochester Security Summit is the community focal point for information security education and awareness in collaboration with the Rochester area’s higher education institutions, large businesses and area organizations.

Participants will learn about:
- Evaluating emerging threats and future trends in information security
- Building the business case for your IT security plan
- Meeting the challenges of compliance and privacy in the global marketplace
- What works and what doesn't, straight from Information Technology trenches
- Operational aspects of IT security, disaster recovery, business continuity planning

The Rochester Security Summit will provide three tracks including:
- Technical Track with low-cost training and education for information security professionals;
- Business Professional Track with education for business professionals that are not technologists; and
- K-12 Track is focused on protecting our children and includes a panel of specialists to speak to school administrators, educators, community leaders, and parents.
