Samurai Karate Studio Introduces Peace Education Flashcards

Samurai Karate Studio is pleased to announce the introduction of a new program into their curriculum called "Peace is more important than punches!" This 12 flash card series is the brainchild of martial art's teacher and activist, Tom Callos, who is the owner and creator of the Ultimate Black Belt Test.

Columbia, SC, October 29, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Samurai Karate Studio is pleased to announce they are introducing a new program into their karate curriculum called "Peace is more Important Than Punches." This program includes a series of flash cards that were designed and created by martial arts teacher, consultant and activist, Tom Callos. Tom is also the owner and creater of a master instructor program called the Ultimate Black Belt Test.

Sensei Chris Feldt, owner and chief instructor for Samurai Karate Studio commented, "I am a member of the UBBT and have been fortunate to train under the mentorship of Tom Callos. He is a visionary in the martial arts and he loves to introduce big concepts as part of educating and training students. This "Peace is more important than punches" highlights his philosophy and is a great example of the work he does!"

Callos explains the thought process behind this program, "A couple of years ago, when I first started trying to teach others how to talk about and "teach" the subject of peace, I put together a set of flash cards, with a handsome presentation, which allowed even the most cautious or inexperienced teacher to talk about "peace" in a way that was non-confrontational and/or controversial."

The flash cards, 12 in all, highlight quotes from notable individuals from around the world.

"I am excited to add this program to my curriculum," commented Feldt, "and I think my students will really enjoy it as well. It supports the notion that we as individuals need to treat each other with respect and kindness to foster true peace; a peace that does not require us to ever have to use our martial arts training."

Samurai Karate Studio teaches a traditional Japanese style of karate to children and adults, beginning with children ages 3 and up.
