Internationally Recognized Artist, Adrian Gottlieb's Painting "Nimbus" Included in Figurative Exhibition Opening November 21, 2009

Santa Barbara, CA, November 01, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Adrian Gottlieb, Naturalist Painter and Portraitist will be exhibiting his new work as part of the “Great American Figurative Artists” exhibition at Waterhouse Gallery in Santa Barbara, CA beginning November 21, 2009 and continuing through December 19th. This will be Gottlieb’s second exhibition with Waterhouse Gallery, he was also included in the “Great American Figurative Artists” exhibition in 2007.

Gottlieb, a classically trained traditional painter, is primarily known for his luminous figurative work. He has been commissioned by such notables as the Earl of Pembroke and the editor of Fine Art Connoisseur, Eric Rhodes to complete their portraits. In 2007, the Portrait Society of America bestowed their top prize in the International Portrait Competition held annually upon him for his painting, “The Director.” His painting, “The Auditor” also completed in 2007 was the winner of the 2008 American Artist Magazine cover competition.

Viewing Gottlieb's paintings in person, one is immediately struck by the painterly quality of his work; imparting a luminosity and life force sorely missing in flat, Photo-Realist work. While he has expanded his themes to include more landscape and still life, Gottlieb’s passion remains centered on figurative compositions.

The exhibition will open November 21st at the prestigious Waterhouse Gallery, located at La Arcada, 1114 State Street, Suite 9, Santa Barbara, CA. Located in the heart of the Santa Barbara near the Santa Barbara Museum of Art the Waterhouse Gallery has been an integral part of Santa Barbara since 1984. The Gallery represents some of the finest painters from the Western States, whose work is nationally known and many are members of the California Art Club and Oil Painters of America.
