Tailgate Teams Compete for Top Honors at “Super Brawl” Event

Annual competition pits pre-game partiers against fans from other teams during Super Bowl week festivities.

Miami, FL, November 10, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Tailgaters from across the country are invited to bring their crews to South Florida this February to party and compete with top teams from throughout the NFL. With more than 3 days of organized contests, entertainment, and activities Super ‘Gate III: The Super Brawl of Tailgating promises to be The tailgate party of the year.

In response to increasing limitations and restrictions on tailgating at the Super Bowl, Super ‘Gate was originally organized to provide fans attending the Big Game with a place to throw their pre-game parties. Now in its third year, it’s grown to so much more.

The main attraction for many is, in fact, the Tailgate Decathlon. “These tailgate crews are the tops at their stadiums, throwing parties that have become legendary,” explains Super ‘Gate spokesperson Jay “The Tailgate Guy” DiEugenio, who has partied with many of the teams on their home turf. “They are out to prove that their party can beat any other in the league.”

Throughout the weekend, teams will compete in ten popular games and activities to test their tailgate prowess, including cornhole, beer pong, ladder golf, and washers as well as the Cholula Wing Bowl and Bloody Maria Mix-off, Blacktop Babe / Superfan contest, and of course, a BBQ Open.

Trophies, prizes and points are awarded for each event, with the trophy and title of Grand Champion being awarded to the team with the highest cumulative point total. Past Grand Champions Iron Lot Tailgaters from Dallas and Tailgaters BBQ Party from Oakland will both be in attendance and defending their title. That honor will be awarded during the pre-game festivities on Sunday, in a ceremony presented by Premium Seats USA.

In addition, Tim Shanley and his crew of Bears fans from Da Bus, who were recently named Champions on Food Network’s Tailgate Warriors with Guy Fieri, will be heading down to Super ‘Gate seeking another tailgate title.

“Super ‘Gate is no longer about whose team is going to win the Super Bowl,” explains DiEugenio. “For tailgaters, this weekend is all about who is the best on the blacktop. They strategize, plan and train for months. They come out and they put on a show, and the Super Bowl is their stage.”

Presented by Cholula Hot Sauce, Super ‘Gate III is an open event and reservations are currently being accepted. For $300, teams get a Standard Campsite for 3 days and entry into all Decathlon events. This year’s event will be held in Parking Lot F of the Calder Casino and Racecourse, within a mile of Dolphin Stadium, providing Super ‘Gate attendees an unparalleled opportunity to soak up that total Super Bowl experience.
