Lamorinda CERT and DART Announce February 2010 Training

Lamorinda CERT and DART announce the dates for their February Basic CERT Training. Participants will become disaster first responders, ready to assist local emergency responders in case of a disaster. CERT graduation is a requirement for participation in the Lamorinda DART training later this year.

Moraga, CA, December 03, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Now in its sixth year of training, Lamorinda CERT has trained more than 400 disaster first responders. The free Community Emergency Response Training is sponsored by the cities of Lafayette and Orinda, the Town of Moraga.

The curriculum was developed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Lamorinda CERT Instructors are graduates from the Contra Costa County CERT Train The Trainer Program. Upon graduation participants are sworn in as California Disaster Service Worker Volunteers.

The February CERT classes will be held at Saint Mary’s College of California, which has been hosting CERT training for many years. The dates are: Wednesday February 3, 10, 17, 24 and Wednesday March 3, 2010. Classes will start at 6:30 p.m. and end around 9:30 p.m.

The February class is a prerequisite for those who want to attend Lamorinda DART's Animal Sheltering training later this year.
