Port St. Lucie, FL, December 03, 2009 --(PR.com
)-- Having almost completed their first year in business, Urban Fire Dance Studio is celebrating by having their various classes perform for family and friends at the Christmas Showcase 2009. This event will be the culmination of what they've learned over the past few months, mixed with some warm Christmas surprises. Come expecting some hip hop routines, a few familiar Christmas songs remixed in a whole new way, and a heart-warming explanation of why Christmas is celebrated.
During the recent economic downturn, starting a new business is not always advised. However, the founders of UFDS, Kelli Moore and Tati Perez, were searching for a way to expose more youth to the art of dance. Having worked with a dance program at a local youth center for several years, they knew that the music crossed all social, economic and racial barriers and brought kids together that would not normally socialize. "I was one of those kids," says Perez, "that was quietly falling between the cracks because I was intimidated by people. But dance changed that for me. I was able to really find myself through the art of dance and now I want to help other kids and teens do the same thing."
The Christmas Showcase 2009 will be held at New Life Church, 5555 St. James Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 1:00pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children in advance; $10 for adults and $8 for children at the door. Proceeds from the sale of the tickets will benefit the Firehouse Dance Scholarship Fund, a program of the Firehouse Youth Centre, a 501(c)3 entity.
