Literary Publicist Victor Gulotta, of Gulotta Communications, Inc., is Awarded PR Contract for New Barney Frank Biography

Boston-area book promotion specialist Victor Gulotta, of Gulotta Communications, Inc., is retained to promote Stuart E. Weisberg's new biography of Congressman Barney Frank.

Auburndale, MA, December 07, 2009 --(PR.com)-- Victor Gulotta, president of Gulotta Communications, Inc., a book promotion and publicity firm based in Newton, Massachusetts, announced recently that his company has been retained to provide public relations services for Stuart E. Weisberg's biography, Barney Frank: The Story of America's Only Left-Handed, Gay, Jewish Congressman, just published by the University of Massachusetts Press.

Barney Frank is an engaging and detailed biography of the fifteen-term Congressman and, since 2007, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, based on interviews with over 150 people, including more than thirty hours with Barney Frank himself.

"Stuart Weisberg's biography of Barney Frank," says author and CNN political commentator Jeffrey Toobin, "is not just definitive--it's as entertaining and fascinating as its subject." "Barney Frank is a masterful legislator and one of the great political minds of our generation," says Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. "Stuart Weisberg's lively biography . . . documents all of his extraordinary qualities, and the many ways in which he enriches our democracy."

Gulotta is no stranger to political biographies and memoirs. In 1987 he was the publicist for the American edition of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's first collection of speeches. Later he was engaged to promote a campaign memoir by three-time candidate for the U.S. Senate Harry Lonsdale. In 2004, Gulotta promoted Michael Badnarik's book on the Constitution, which was released to coincide with his run for the President of the United States on the Libertarian Party ticket.

The announcement of Gulotta Communications' representation of Barney Frank comes at a time when the company is expanding to offer more services for its clients, according to Gulotta, who has just launched a newly designed website for his company at www.booktours.com. In addition to public relations, the firm's strength since it was founded in 1993, Gulotta Communications now offers a variety of marketing services, including direct mail, print and broadcast advertising, web marketing, search engine optimization, and direct response strategies.

"In this period of shrinking marketing budgets and cutbacks in staff, publishers are finding it necessary to scale back or in some cases even abandon promotional efforts for many of their titles," observes Gulotta. "Increasingly, authors are looking for more than PR when they come to my firm. Some of them feel 'orphaned' and need marketing support, and now we are equipped to help them."

As his firm expands to accommodate the needs of under-marketed authors--and publishers that find it more cost-effective to farm out certain projects--Gulotta has noticed an increase in the number of fiction authors in need of book promotion services. One such novelist is Gloria Nagy, whose new book, Seasick, has been published by Jorge Pinto Books, a boutique publisher with a distinguished list of titles. The best-selling author of such novels as A House in the Hamptons, Nagy decided to retain Gulotta Communications to generate national media exposure and follow the success of her previous novels.
