When he’d grabbed the phone away from her, he’d smelled like a piece of cinnamon toast. All she wanted to do was curl up next to him until she remembered he had broken into her house and he was probably wanted somewhere.

Tentative fingers reached out and revelled in the differences between his skin and hers. His arms tightened, lifting her closer. When his lips lowered to cover hers, she forgot to think.

Staring at the stranger's outstretched hand, she refused his help and pulled herself to her feet … then promptly fell against him.
