Ibstock, United Kingdom, December 17, 2009 --(PR.com
)-- Since October 2008, the use of SUDS surface finishes has become a legal requirement for many driveways joining the public highway. Leading brick maker, Ibstock, has launched a new range of stock brick pavers for drives and patios that are SUDS compliant, allowing run-off of excess water during heavy rain.
The only clay stock paver of its kind, Ibstock’s new SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) pavers are designed to be bedded on a suitable permeable aggregate substrate and the joints filled with 6-8mm gravel. This design makes them water permeable and therefore compliant with new legislations.
Andrew Halstead-Smith, marketing manager at Ibstock, commented: “Following the recent changes in legislation, fitting impermeable surfaces such as concrete now requires the submission of a planning application, a fee and also associated delays to a project.
“Our new SUDS pavers are an attractive and easy to install alternative to impermeable surfaces, which are compliant with legislation, avoiding any unnecessary hassle. The unique concealed spacers in the pavers allow them to be precisely laid in many decorative patterns without unsightly, irregular gaps and the distinctive tapered profile joints make walking on the SUDS pavers easy, even in high heels.”
“We specialise in the manufacture of stock brick pavers and have a vast range of easy to install options. The softer appearance and warm natural clay colours of our complete range make them perfect for domestic settings such as drives, pathways and patios.”
Compared with most imported slate or stones sets and slabs, Ibstock’s pavers are produced in the UK from responsibly sourced and naturally abundant materials. They are manufactured in modern safe working conditions and the environmental impact is minimised as the pavers typically travel less than 60 miles from where they are made to where they are used.
