Semrock Awarded U.S. Patents for MaxLine™ Laser-Line Filters and StopLine® Notch Filters

Rochester, NY, October 13, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Semrock, Inc., the leading manufacturer of high-performance optical filters for the Biotech and Analytical Instrumentation markets, announced today it has been awarded two more U.S. Patents for its unique thin-film based optical filters.

U.S. Patent No. 7,119,960 offers formal protection for Semrock’s MaxLine™ series of narrow laser-line filters. These popular filters feature unprecedented transmission exceeding 90% at the laser line combined with ultra-fast roll-off for the most discriminating noise rejection.

U.S. Patent No. 7,123,416 protects Semrock’s StopLine® series of optical notch filters. These single and multinotch filters offer deep (OD > 6) laser-line blocking for maximum laser rejection, together with a narrow notch bandwidth and the highest signal transmission to detect the weakest signals.

“By combining its innovative advances in the pinnacle Ion Beam Sputtering deposition process with unique optical designs that precisely addressed an important problem in laser-based instrumentation, Semrock introduced state-of-the-art filters that quickly became popular with both OEM’s and end-users,” said Dr. Turan Erdogan, CTO of Semrock. “These patents, which reinforce the novelty of our approach to achieving unprecedented levels of performance and reliability, join a growing body of Semrock patents for its innovative filter products.”
